This class is an introduction tutorial for using one of the most widely used and (mostly) free to use software for parametric modelling, Fusion 360. This class will cover design and toolpath creation. Toolpath creation will be based on the Laguna CNC's however the CNC class is not a prereq.This class will be held in person at Asmbly in the Multi Purpose Room.

Introduction to Fusion 360, design and toolpath creation.

 

This class is an introduction tutorial for using one of the most widely used and (mostly) free to use software for parametric modelling, Fusion 360. The class will cover design and toolpath creation. The class will use the Laguna CNC's as a basis, but the information can be used for a variety of machines. The class will be help in person at Asmbly in the Multi Purpose room.

This class doesn't replace the Beginner CNC class for the Laguna's.

 

 

 

Agenda:

 

 

 

1) Software introduction and setting up your workspace.

 

 

 

a. Project timeline, models, components, bodies, faces, sketches and more

 

 

 

2) Design Space: Basics of Building a Model

 

 

 

a. Planes, sketches and basic shape manipulation

 

 

 

b. Importing a model

 

 

 

3) Manufacturing Space: Generating toolpaths

 

 

 

a. Tools and tool library, 2d & 3d toolpaths, Stock definition,

 

 

 

b. Simulation and Post processing.

 

 

 

4) Laguna Setup and Execution

 

 

 

a. CNC specifics, Workflow and common errors

 

 

 

5) Online resources

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

 

 

This is an entry level tutorial. No prior experience with F360 or other modelling software is required. Students are required to sign up for, download and install the latest version of F360 from Autodesk.

Note: This class is not a replacement for the hands-on CNC class required to be authorized to use the CNC machine at ASMBLY.
